Nelson Faerber played NCAA Division I football during the 2005, 2006, and 2007 seasons at Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina. In one of the more remarkable games of 2007, he blocked a punt by South Carolina, leading to a touchdown by Clemson. The feat, the first of its kind since 2004, was named the play of the week by TheACC.com. In that same game, Nelson Faerber caught a four-yard pass from quarterback Cullen Harper, scoring a touchdown. The game concluded with Clemson University defeating South Carolina 23-21. That year, Clemson achieved a record of nine wins and two losses in the games Mr. Faerber played.
The previous season, Nelson Faerber played 67 snaps in 11 games. During a game against Temple University, he capitalized on the opposing team’s fumble, recovering it in the end zone for a touchdown. In post-season play, Mr. Faerber served as a reserve wide receiver against Kentucky in the 2006 Music City Bowl.
As a student-athlete at Clemson University, Nelson Faerber successfully balanced sports and academics. The recipient of an Academic-Athletic Award for several semesters, he also achieved the Honor Roll on a number of occasions. In addition, he placed on the Dean’s List in the spring of 2006. Initially a walk-on to the football team, he earned a full scholarship from the program in 2006.
Nelson Faerber enrolled at Clemson University after building an award-winning record as a high school player. During his years at Chattahoochee High School in Alpharetta, Georgia, he was designated the Most Valuable Player as a sophomore and named the Offensive Player of the Year the following season.
